Every Drop makes An Ocean

Some of the earliest works by the members of the Bimal Karmakar Foundation was to organize a number successive awareness programs on deceased organ donation in medical institutes, in order to directly talk to the family members of the patients admitted regarding deceased organ transplantation and regarding the pledge form. This relevance based approach directly enabled the members to answer any queries the people might be having and address them simply and face to face.

Distribution of informative yet concise pamphlets, discussing the details encased within the donor forms that one needs to fill for the consent and other legal aspects, and encouraging and helping any willing donors to fill the forms thereafter, was some of the many tasks the organizers engaged in during the course of the event.

The net result: A large number of people directly relevant to the cause of organ donation were given the opportunity to interact directly with doctors and advocates about both the medical and legal aspects of deceased organ donation, while many showed the enthusiasm to come forward and pledge to be a donor. But no matter how small or how many of such small scale events one has to organize, we must never forget that every single drop ultimately goes into the formation of an ocean. It is only through such small steps can we one day hope to meet the vast demand of donors throughout the country.
